FROM FOUNDING TO THE 1960’s
1946
Tenshin Co., ltd. is founded by Iwao Ikebe.
1954
Tenshin Money Counting Machine Co., Ltd. is founded. Manufacturing and sales of coin counting machines begin.
1957
Tokyo factory is established.
1963
The automatic coin wrapping machine (LAC-2) is developed.
1966
The automatic coin wrapping machine is exported to the U.S.A. (first exported product).
THE 1970’s
1970
The new Tokyo factory is established.(Present Shinmachi Factory)First exporting of coin counting machines (Spindle type) to European nations.
First exporting of coin counting machines (Spindle type) to European nations through the British company De La Rue.
The world’s first transparent paper wrapping technology (patented) is developed.
1971
The on-line automatic cash dispensing machine and the simultaneous coin sorting and totaling machine are developed.
1973
Company is renamed to LAUREL BANK MACHINES CO., LTD.
1975
Agencies in various European countries are established for exporting and distributing products to these countries.Money exchange machines are developed for use in banks.

1977
The cash settlement system is developed.
Tokyo R&D Laboratory is established. (Present R&D Laboratory No. 2)
1978
Agency network extended to Southeast Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America, and exporting to these areas begins.
1979
Tokyo Headquarters building is built. Osaka factory is established.
THE 1980’s
1981
Japan’s first automated teller machine is developed, thus consummating our tellers cashier systems.
1982
Japan’s first recycling automatic teller machine (patented) and Japan’s first miniaturized currency sorting machine are developed.
1983
Japan’s first integrated machine with functions for depositing both coins and notes (TDS-03) is developed, completing the front tellers-vault cash settlement systems for banks.
1984
The double-headed automated recycling pay-in/pay-out teller machine (ACTUS) is developed.
1985
R&D Laboratory No. 3 is established.
1986
The space-saving bill depositing machine is developed.
Resident representative’s office is established in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.
1987
The fully automated money accounting system and a new type of automated teller machine (TTM-2) are developed.
1989
The simultaneous note pay-in/pay-out machine (TTM-3) is developed.
THE 1990’s
1991
The new Osaka factory is established. Osaka R&D Laboratory is established.
1992
The Laurel Handy Bill Counting Machine (HBC-10) wins the MITI Good Design Award. The fully automated money accounting system (MACS Series) is developed.
1994
The simple money-depositing/change-making machine is developed.
1995
Joint venture company, LAUREL NGZ S.A. is established in Paris, France.
1996
The high-speed coin recognition system and slim-type note depositing /dispensing machine are developed. The combined note and coin depositing Machine is developed.
Company celebrates its 50th anniversary. Joint venture established in China- Shenyang Laurel Bank Machines Co., Ltd.
The space-saving bill depositing machine is developed.
1997
Tokyo factory passes Quality System Standard ISO 9001.
Obtains ISO 9001 certification for Tokyo factory.
1998
The coin and note recycler (LADY-e) linking POS system is developed.
1999
Coin wrapping machine with high speed Image Inspection is developed. The fully automated cash processing system (Axis Series) is developed. Note sorter (TDU-50) is developed for overseas market. New type of note counter (F-2000) is developed.
THE 2000’s
2000
The fully automated note sorting and binding machine (BA-100) is developed.
2001
The fully automated coin and note recycling machine (CBM-10) for front tellers is developed.
2003
The coin and note recycler (LADY-f) linking POS system is developed.
2005
The note depositing and sorting machine (PM-2000) is developed. The depositing machine (LDS-10) is developed.
2007
Tokyo and Osaka factories pass Quality System Standard ISO 14001.
Obtains ISO 14001 certification for Tokyo and Osaka factories.
2008
The fully automated coin and note recycling machine (CBM-20) for front tellers is developed. The coin and note recycler (ACM-10) is developed. The key controlling machine (KM-30) is developed. Obtains ISO 14001 certification for Sales & Marketing Division and extends to all divisions.

2009
Shenyang Laurel Bank Machines Co., Ltd. changes management from joint venture to 100% ownership.

LBM ITALIA is established.
